About the Author

D.L. Roan lives and writes in her "beautifully wild and southern" home state of Florida with her "perfectly flawed hero" husband and two 80lb lap dogs.
Completely addicted to the written word, she's had a brood of characters residing inside her imagination for as long as she could remember. Being able to bring them to life and let them out to play has been a life's dream fulfilled.
Romance has always been her favored genre. While erotica is her favored spicy flavor, she also enjoys paranormal fantasy and has been known to stalk the work of certain historical romance writers.
In addition to exorcizing her characters' lusts, D.L. enjoys scuba diving, fishing, and sitting by a bonfire on a starry night. She loves to hear from her fans so check her out on Facebook or send her a tweet.

Excerpt
Like a prophet to his promise.

Even though she didn’t want to need his help, she did. He hadn’t asked one thing of her in return yet. The least she could do would be to keep her mouth shut. When he rounded the front of the car and opened her door, she couldn’t bring herself to look at him, focusing instead on the suddenly interesting crushed soda can on the floor at her feet. “You’re good at it, you know.”

“I’m good at a lot of things, sweetheart.” He unceremoniously unbuckled her seat belt and scooped her from the front seat. “I don’t need you to tell me that.”

She pounded her fist on his shoulder as he walked to the only visible door into the building. “I was talking about being nice!” She pushed against his hold on her but got nowhere fast, as usual. “I was trying to be nice, you jerk!”

Grant stopped in his tracks and peered down at her, his amber eyes searching hers. Searching for what she had no clue, but damn if that panty-melting fire in his eyes didn’t cut right through the bullshit in her brain. “You really think I’m good at being nice?”

Thalia forced herself to look away. “I take it back. You totally suck at being anything but an asshole!”

He studied her, a big goofy grin on his face. “I think you like me, fossa.” Heat flushed her cheeks; heat having nothing to do with her infection or fever. You should have just kept your big mouth shut!
Grant continued to the door, still holding her cradled in his arms. “You hate needing my help, but,” he reached up and pounded three times on the door, then three more, “I think you like me and you don’t know what to do with that.”

When no one answered he carefully sat her on her feet. “Okay, Captain Psychology, what does this mean?” She elbowed him in the gut, extracting a satisfying groan.

Grant recovered and struck with the stealth of a panther. Lacing his fingers into her hair he pulled her head back, forcing her to look at him. His breath billowed out, hot and moist against the shell of her ear as he leaned in and spoke with a growl. “It means my little fossa, that as soon as I get you someplace safe and your leg is healed, I’m going to bend you over and spank that smart ass of yours.”
Thalia froze, unwanted images of being naked and on display flashed through her mind. His heavy hand splayed across her ass and she could almost imagine the sharp bite of erotic pain. Grant’s hot tongue slipped out and traced along the outer shell of her ear, sending a tingling blanket of electricity dancing along her skin as he sucked on her sensitive lobe.

“Then I’m going to fuck you.” He turned her face and kissed along her jaw. “Long,” he sighed, the tip of his tongue tickling the corner of her mouth. “And hard,” he said in a low, baritone whisper just before his hand tightened in her hair and he crushed his mouth to hers. Devouring her, his tongue rushed along hers in long, demanding strokes like a prophet to his promise.

Interview with D.L. Roan - Second Nature

Today we are interviewing, author of Second Nature
Enjoy my Sweets!
 6949817
Hi Laura Lee!
First, let me say thanks for this opportunity and that I’m super excited to share these characters’ story with you and your followers.

1)     Are there any Authors that have grasped your interest recently and why?
Wow. I’ve met so many new amazing authors on this journey it’s difficult to list only a few. There is one author in particular that I’ve had the privilege to beta read for recently and I WAS HOOKED! She will be publishing her first novel soon so I won’t put her on the spot and name names just yet, but oh man! This story grabbed be and shook me, hard. It’s been a long time since I’ve felt that from a book. I hate teasing you guys. Okay, not really (ha-ha), but whew! Get ready. This one’s going places.

2)     Do you buy a book by the cover?
I’m definitely not a cover clicker. I’m one of those who read the entire blurb and filters through the reviews before I buy. I love “love em’ or hate em’” books with diverse reviews. I usually end up loving them, but either way they are the ones that seem to evoke the most emotion.

3)     Do you have a book trailer?
Yes! I actually did my first ever book trailer for Second Nature. It was a challenging experience to say the least. Eeeee! The best part about it for me is that my super talented husband created the soundtrack for it. Love that man!  Ha-ha. You can find it on YouTube here: http://bit.ly/14AJjhX

4)     What are your thoughts on book trailers?
I think they can be a very effective window into the heart of the book, but not necessarily essential. It’s definitely a fun, creative new tool for authors.

5)     White wine or red?
Hmmm *scrunches nose* I’m more of a Martini girl. However, a few glasses of Chardonnay, I can’t feel my face and we’re all good!  *thumbs up*

6)     What will you do to celebrate your next birthday?
Oh lordy-lordy!  I’m hoping to skate by and ignore that day all together. Ha-ha. I’m going to live like every day is my birthday from here on out. Drinks and cake every day! Oh! And presents! Lots and lots of presents! Get that, honey? Don’t worry. I’ll make a list.

7)     What's your favorite horror movie?
The six o’clock news! Ha-ha. I can honestly say I don’t have one. Never watched much horror but I do like paranormal shows on TV like A Haunting. *chills*

8)     Do you play a musical instrument?
I do play piano, classical, and I’ve pick up a little bass guitar from my hubs. He’s definitely the musician in the house.

9)     Most frequent song played?
Is that like a new take on the favorite song question? Ha-ha. Um, I don’t count, but I’d have to say it’s a close tie between “She Country” by Jason Aldean and “Kryptonite” by 3 Doors Down.

10)  Weirdest thing you've ever eaten.
Without a doubt, hands down, Play-Dough. That stuff has the strangest texture EVER! Kinda salty, too. Red is the worst! Blah!

11)  Do you have any hidden talents?
Now, if they’re hidden how would I know? Trick question, Laura Lee. I’m on to you. Ha-ha. Let me see. I don’t know that it’s an actual talent but I do love to bake fresh, homemade bread. I know, bor-ing. Wish I could say something cool, like I see dead people, but nope. Just plain ole’ crusty French bread baking. Oh! And sometimes Amish white bread. Ha-ha.

Mate of the Alpha by Marie Mason

2gy9k5u
Book Info:
Title: Mate of the Alpha
Author: Marie Mason
Blurb:
Ethan Scott was reluctant to claim his mate, Lily Reynolds. He was afraid his carnal needs would be too much for the curvy innocent. His wolf was of another mind, pushing the man relentlessly to mate. But Ethan knew once he had the brown-haired beauty there would no turning back. He’d claim her, mate her, and bred her. When she’s attacked by a group of rouge wolves, Ethan fears he has left his claiming too late and will lose his mate forever. When he comes to her rescue, he discovers the spirited Lily is more than ready to be the mate of an alpha.
Lily Reynolds has been crushing on her boss since she started work at Wolfe Enterprises six months ago. She knew the chances of attracting the wolf into a long-term relationship were slim to none – slim being a state she hadn’t achieved since childhood. She loved her curves and knew there was someone out there who would love every soft, luscious inch of her voluptuous body. Heartbroken, she knew Ethan Scott wasn’t that man despite the hot and cold signals the wolf shifter had been given her for months.

Excerpt:
In his mate, he sensed a reserve. There was a wariness within the depths of her pretty, brown eyes that spoke of something, he suspected, that had to do with a man. It made him angry to think anyone had ever hurt his mate. But knowing he’d have to overcome her natural resistance and some asshole’s past behavior was a challenge.

A sense of challenge in regards to a woman, especially a mate, was arousing as hell.
Thankfully, there wasn’t so much as a hint of feeling intimidated by him in her demeanor. Fate would not have given him a woman who would be cowered by his dominance. She would have given him a mate who completed him, who balanced the arrogance of his wolf.

There were other reasons for his reluctance to claim his mate. There was an air of such pure innocence surrounding Lily that it frightened him. He was a creature of the forest, an earthy, sexual being. He knew mating with him would expose her to his wolf’s – hell, the man’s – ferocious carnal appetite, the constant craving. The need to dominate her sexually. Of course, he would protect her and provide for her as no other male ever could. He was her mate, too. Designed to fulfill her needs and wants and desires. He just didn’t know if she was ready to be the mate of the alpha.

He smiled as he handed her the contracts. Slowly, sensuously, sending a silent message he hoped she was starting to understand. He wanted her and he was going to have her. She was careful not to touch his hand as she took the sheaf of papers. Noting her stealth to not so much as brush his fingers with her own, Ethan’s eyes danced with deviltry.

“I’m sure I can manage it,” she said primly before she turned and walked back to her office, unaware of the big, bad wolf ogling her rounded ass and curvy legs.

The sensation of simmering expectancy inside Ethan ratcheted up to rioting anticipation. The man and wolf both thought – tonight is the night.

Interview with Marie Mason ~ Mate of the Alpha

Today we are interviewing Marie Mason, Author of Mate of the Alpha

1) What was the hardest part of writing your book?
The ending. It’s hard not to end a story too abruptly – readers really don’t like that. And of course, I think every writer would say the middle. The great thing about short novellas is the middle is very, very short. As a reader I sometimes flip through the “middle” of the book. I just want to see what happens next between the two main characters.

2) What were the challenges (research, literary, psychological, and logistical) in bringing it to life?
The research part is pretty much reading other romances with shifters – it’s a tough job, but anything for the craft, right? Sometimes it’s hard to put yourself in the mood to write. It feels like having to write a research paper and that’s not good. Finding the quality time to write is the most difficult thing to do.

3) Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
I was always the girl who went to the school library twice a week for new books. I think the desire to write for anyone evolves from the love of reading.

4) How much of the book is realistic?
Well, the relationships between two people – whether a shifter or human – is the same as real life. There are doubts, insecurities to face and the ability to let go and allow yourself to fall in love, to trust that other person with your heart. The feelings that one has for the person they love are the same in fiction and real life. To me, the paranormal/shifter element of a story just makes it much, much easier (and a whole lot hotter!) to write the alpha male. That’s the type of romance stories I read and the type I want to write.

5) Do you have a specific writing style?
Introspective? I try to write what I love to read or what the voices in my head are telling me to write. I’m not trying to write the next great American novel with deep meaning and soul searching bits of wisdom. Women read romance to feel good – about themselves and the possibilities of love.

6) How did you come up with the title?
The title usually just comes to me. Strange, but true. It’s usually a sentence or phrase from the story that inspires it.

7) If you were attending a Halloween party, what would your costume be and why?
I have never attended a Halloween party, but that is something on my bucket list. I would go to one of two extremes – the really sexy rendition of an angel or Cinderella or the sedate, demur interpretation waiting for Prince Charming or a demon to see the woman underneath the costume.

8) If you had to describe yourself using three words, it would be…
impatient, hopefully imaginative, and down-to-earth.

9) If you could visit any place in the world, where would you choose to go and why?
I’ve never been to the beach. I’d like to walk along a shore line during the fall of the year and just listen to the ocean.

10) What takes you out of your comfort zone?
Being with people. I’m not much of a social animal, making small talk is difficult. I’d much rather be dreaming up a new plot with new characters.

11) Sitting alone in a big field, looking at stars, what do you think/feel?
That all is right with the world. It makes you want to sigh and say, ahhh, this is how it’s supposed to be – no noise, no demands, just being.

A comedy...without a doubt! I could not make some of the stuff that happens to me up if I tried!!

I'm a cup of Pooh Bear, a teaspoon of Tigger and a pinch of Eeyore

 BIO:
prof pic
Ever since I can remember, I have always enjoyed Creative Writing. There was always something about being able to travel to a different place or become a different person with just the stroke of a pen - or in today's world a touch of the keyboard.
My life is not as interesting as my books or the characters in them, but then again whose life is? I was born and have lived in New Jersey my whole life. I'm a mom of twin teenage boys, a teenage stepson, a crazy Border Collie and a cat with an identity crisis! I guess you can say writing is my form of Calgon! I am married to a wonderful guy - but we'll keep that between us, I don't want him getting a big head!
"An Unplanned Life" the sequel/prequel to "An Unplanned Lesson" will be releasing on 11/7/13 and I already have a vested interest in the characters of my next novel  "A Cry For Hope" releasing some time in 2014.....stay tuned for details!

Teaser:
The waitress came over to take our order and I couldn’t help but notice Dailan checking her out when she walked away. “You know that’s just wrong,” I commented.

“What?” he asked, clearly aware to what I was referring.

“The way you look at women like they’re sex objects.”

He rolled his eyes at me. “You know,I like that girl that I met at the bar that night better than the uptight school teacher.”

“Good, ‘cause that girl that you met in the bar doesn’t exist,” I said.

“Oh I betcha if that girl had a few drinks she would come back out,” he said with a smirk.
I looked over, forgetting that Ryan was even there. He was coloring the picture on the back of his placemat, not paying any mind to the bantering going on between me and his uncle. I picked up a crayon and began coloring with him in an effort not to make any more conversation with his uncle. I finally looked up when I could feel him staring at me.

“What?” I asked in annoyance.

He was laughing and trying to play innocent. I had to admit that he looked absolutely adorable at that particular moment with his cute boyish grin.

“Why are you staring at me?” I asked.

“Because I think you’re hot,” he said as he chewed on his straw and his smile became even wider.

Ryan started to giggle, never taking his eyes from his coloring.

I pursed my lips and shook my head. “What, are you twelve?” His only response was the arrogant smirk that I had become so acquainted with over the past few months. “You know what – why did I even agree to come out with you tonight? Oh wait—that’s right, I didn’t agree, you just took it upon yourself to barge into my classroom and demand that I go,” I said, not finding any humor in his immature behavior.

“Do you always take demands like that from a man, darlin’? If so, I think I need to get you in the bedroom,” he said as he rubbed the scruff on his cheek.

I couldn’t take his obnoxious behavior anymore. I shook my head and shot him a dirty look before giving him a swift kick in the knee.

“Ouch, that wasn’t very nice,” he said as he rubbed his knee under the table.

“Keep it up and I’ll aim just a little higher.”

“Then that would be your loss.”

“Oh, I’m sure it wouldn’t be,” I snapped.

Ryan seemed unfazed by it all as he continued to color. I realized now exactly where Ryan got his colorful vocabulary - from the immature, arrogant male chauvinist sitting across from me. Did I mention incredibly sexy as well?
