J.S Scott & Cali Mackay - A Maine Christmas Or Two

Book One Synopsis

The Billionaire’s Angel by J.S. Scott (The Billionaire’s Obsession Christmas Story)

Considered an eccentric beast by most of the residents in Amesport, Maine, Billionaire Grady Sinclair stays isolated on his private peninsula in a grand mansion most people are afraid to approach. The arrangement suits Grady just fine, until a fearless angel lands on his doorstep, making him painfully aware of how lonely he really is, and how much he wants to keep the fiery blonde cherub for his very own. But will he have to become the monster the townspeople believe him to be in order to get his Christmas wish?

Emily Ashworth needs money, and plenty of it. As director of the Youth Center of Amesport, she either finds the funds she needs to supply Christmas presents and other items she needs to purchase to give the kids of Amesport a Christmas, or they won’t have one at all. Desperate, she ventures to the Amesport Peninsula to ask the wealthiest person in the area to provide a Christmas for her misplaced, abused, or troubled kids, and to help keep the doors of the much-needed refuge open. Emily is shocked when she meets Grady, and surprisingly more attracted to him than she has ever been to any man. He might have seemed like a barbarian in the beginning, but Emily quickly learns that Grady is nothing like she’d imagined. Was the monster of Amesport truly the very devil, or just a lonely man who needs the gift of love for Christmas?

Excerpt

Grady tried not to flinch as he met his father’s cold, gray-eyed stare, eyes so very much like his own. “I don’t like parties,” he stated flatly, knowing it went much deeper than that, but he wasn’t about to try to explain. His father had never understood him, and he never would.
“I don’t give a shit about what you like and don’t like. No son of mine is going to be an idiot and a coward. Man up and do what’s expected of you,” his father growled. “Downstairs. Five minutes. And try not to act like a fool for a change.” Martin Sinclair turned around and left without another word.
Grady let out a huge sigh, glad that his father was hosting the annual Christmas party and probably didn’t have more time to rake him over the coals for not being the man he wanted all of his sons to be.
Martin Sinclair wanted every one of his children to be just like him, and Grady knew he was…different. He didn’t want to be, but he was, and at the age of eighteen, he knew he’d never be like his father.
Walking to his closet, he pulled out a suit and tie, shucking his jeans and t-shirt to put on more formal clothing. Nothing less than a suit and tie would do, and if he couldn’t act like a Sinclair, at least he would dress like one.

Book Two

A Mermaid Isle Christmas by Cali MacKay

Once Aidan Nordson made his fortune, he was finally able to leave behind the world that left him broken and scarred. Escaping to Mermaid Isle, all he wants is to be left alone to live his life and deal with his demons, but when a blizzard hits and strands Chloe Madison at his door, the gorgeous and feisty brunette stirs feelings in him he’d rather push away. Forced together by fate and circumstance, can Aidan let go of the past that haunts him so he can learn to love again or will the storm in his heart swallow him in its darkness?

Excerpt

Aidan got ready to hunker down for the nor’easter that was threatening to hit Mermaid Isle. Maine winters could certainly be brutal, but this storm had veered from its original course and now threatened to be one for the record books. It would guarantee the island a picture-perfect, snowy white Christmas, though that did little to ease the demons that tormented him this time of year.

His pantry was well-stocked, he had a cord of wood for his fireplace, and a generator that should kick in if he lost power. He even had a bottle of whiskey should the need arise, though more often than not, he chose to live with the pain rather than dull it.

It usually helped to stay busy, and he’d found that woodworking and making handcrafted furniture was the only thing that brought him some semblance of peace. Not that it would be enough with the holidays approaching.

The wind started to howl and whistle as icy flakes of snow whipped against the large windows. He stoked the fire and added another piece of wood when there was an unexpected knock at his door, sending his shaggy hound into a barking fit. “Whist, pup.”

Who the hell was out in this mess? He then thought of his cousin, Lucy, who’d recently moved in down the road with her husband and was nearly five months pregnant. Panic snaked through his chest as he yanked the door open, worried she was somehow in trouble.

The person on his doorstep wasn’t his cousin, and it sure as hell wasn’t anyone else he recognized either. She looked like Snow White—porcelain skin with rosy cheeks, black as night hair, ice blue eyes, and lush, naturally red lips. Definitely not a local, though what the hell she was doing out in this bad of a storm, he hadn’t a clue. And it was really coming down now. “Can I help you?”

1) Do you have plans for a new book?
Is this book part of a series? Yes I do, Joey’s book number 3 in the sweet series following Dom and Chantal’s one, Sweet Surrender. And also Craig and Alex’s story, from the sweet series.

2) What books have influenced your writing?
A lot of books have influenced my writing, if I was to name then, which there is quite a few of them, I would be here for a very long time, telling you all about them, and I doubt anyone would want me filling up there blog post with it either lol.

3) Is there an Author that you would really like to meet?
Well since I went to the Naughty Mafia Vegas signing I met some pretty AMAZING authors there, but to narrow it down to one is pretty hard to do. 1 would be E.L James, Joey W. Hill, Lynsay Sands the list would go on.

4) Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover?
I prefer either of them, but most of my books are on my kindle, I have over 200 paperbacks on my bookshelf and around 30,000 for my kindle, lol, I know a huge lot, but love my reading.

5) Where do you prefer to buy your books?
I buy from amazon for all my kindle, I have an app to let me know when all the new ones come out, need to keep up to date on the latest release.

6) Are you a self-published (Indie) Author?
Yes I am, have been since 13th of March 2013.

I have read Fifty Shades of Grey heaps of times, which would be the same for a lot of readers out there, a lot of the ones that I re-read are indie authors.

8) Is there a particular movie that you preferred over the book version?
The only movie that I have watched that is a book is The Twilight sage, I prefer the movies over the books, although I read the whole 4 books in a weekend.

9) What book are you currently reading and in what format (ebook/paperback/hardcover)?
I’m currently reading Release by Rebecca Lynn in ebook format.

10) Are there any Authors that have grasped your interest recently and why?
Yes, Rebecca Lynn, her first book in the Iris series was amazing, the sexual tension in it was mind blowing, and the storyline, pulled me in and kept me interested. Also Joey W. Hill, Natural Law #2, I’m usually pretty good and figuring out who the bad guy is in a book, but I was shocked in this one and so completely wrong lol.

11) Who designed the cover of your book?
Ari over at Cover It Designs designed it for me. She is absolutely amazing, she listens to what you want on the cover, and you think you describe it to the best you can, and when you receive it back from her, it is so much better than what you described to her. It’s like she pulls it from your soul, with what the author wants, she is very talented with what she does, she puts everything into it, heart and soul and love, into every single one of her covers and you can see that from her.

A. I have many stories and characters that plague me and demand to be written. Life is not always a fairy tale, some people’s stories, lives are darker and inspire just as much as the lighter romantic ones.

Q. If you were a character in your book, who would you be?
A. Although she has been through a lot it would have to be River. She’s strong, a survivor, a fighter…..and she gets Sammy ;)

Q. When did you start writing?
A. I have always loved writing stories since I was a little girl. In My teens I loved to write lyrics, it grew from there.

Q. Favorite book boyfriend?
A. Has to be the delicious Kellan Kyle ….drool!

Excerpt:

“Sammy!” I call out.

Once we’re alone, he turns and rushes towards me, his hand swiping across my mouth to wipe Danny’s kiss away. “I know why you’re with him.”

My heart begins in drumming against my ribcage flashes of my past echoing in my mind.
“Blaydon told me the kind of love your dad had for you, River. That’s not love, and neither is guilting you into being with someone just because he knows your secrets. I love you. I love everything that you are.”

I stumble backwards, shaking. My mouth opens and the scared girl’s voice tumbles out. “Do you love all of me, Sammy? Because this,” I point down at myself, “this is a lie. This is the lie I show to you and Blaydon; the lie I wear every day for you and for everyone so you won’t have to see the damaged, broken girl underneath. This smile, these clothes, they’re not me. I’m tainted, Sammy. I’m shattered. My mother took some of me with her when she died, my dad took some when he made me sit on his lap while he violated me, and more when he beat Blaydon for stopping him from raping me, and then you left, taking the rest of me, leaving my soul bare and exposed for Danny to capture and hold hostage. Can you fix me, Sammy? Can you want something so ruined and destroyed? Can you put me back together and make me whole again? Because whatever is left of me, the real me, you have her. You own all of her, all that’s left. My thoughts, my body, and my heart. Can you save me? Sammy, please save me. Please save me.”

I collapse to the ground and sob. Sammy bundles me into his lap and strokes my back. “Shh, don’t cry. I love you, and I’ll try every God damn day to save you, River, I promise. I’ll save you, baby.”

Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria

3) If you were a professional wrestler, what would your ring name be and why?

If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

5) Of all of the Gilligan's Island characters, I am most like (and tell us why):

can sing like Cher.

Gone with the Wind is the only one where I preferred the movie. There is just something about the undeniable chemistry that was captured on the screen so well.

10) If you gave one of your characters an opportunity to speak for themselves, what would they say?
I have to admit all my characters do speak for themselves. I don’t control them, they control me! However, I’d like to think they would sing my praises and tell you what a bad bitch I am! I mean, I did create them! It’s the least they could do!

11) What books have influenced your writing?
Any and all books Kristen Ashley and Lorelei James. Oh and Colleen Hoover. Those women are amazing! I can only hope to be as good as them one day!
